You can use this free application, Speed Reading II to improve your reading speed.
This software allows you try reading by looking at two midpoints on each line and continuing to advance without going back and re-reading. It comes with 10 text sources. You can change the pace of the moving window from approximately 200 wpm to 1500 wpm in three ranges (slow, medium, and fast). You can also use the slider to adjust the speed within each range.
